Quickbooks has been around since the 80's and has evolved to become a complete accounting solution for any business, from the smallest to medium sized businesses. Quickbooks 2008 is now available.
There are a number of different versions of QuickBooks to suit your specific needs. I will review each package and list their different fearures.
QuickBooks Pro edition
For small businesses with simple accounting requirements.
Includes the following functions:
Accounts receivable
Accounts Payable
Bank Reconciliation
Payroll,
Invoicing,
Check production,
Import data into Word
or Excel.
QuickBooks Premier Edition 2008
Offers the applications of the Pro edition, plus industry-specific applications to enhance its capabilities (reviewed below). For example, reporting is enhanced so you can more effectively review your businesses performance on a real time basis, and also the forecasting application is a very powerful tool that will help you set your future direction. Other enhanced features of the Premier edition included management of creditors and debtors, control over inventory movements, and computer generated purchase orders.
Quickbooks Premier - Contractor Edition
Offers the features of the Pro edition, plus features that benefit contractors such as recording job costing information, and reporting based on specific jobs.
QuickBooks Premier - Manufacturing and Wholesale Edition 2008
Offers the features of the Pro edition, plus extra features that record and report on inventory movements and cost reporting. Order tracking and vendor reporting is enhanced so you will know what has been shipped, to whom and when.
QuickBooks Premier Nonprofit Edition
This is an accounting package specifically designed to allow you to keep track of specific purpose grants and easily acquit expenditure.
QuickBooks Professional Services Edition 2008
An accounting software with a specific application to record billable hours and invoice for hours worked. The software also helps with planning of future work.
